From The Brunswick Post - Updated Sep 25, 2012 To the Editor:

I am urging the people of Ward 3 to re-elect Joe Delsanter.

Mr. Delsanter has been my councilman for the past eight years. He has worked hard for the residents of Brunswick and for the ward. He has always returned my calls and has been very responsive to the issues that currently face the city.

Mr. Capretta deserves to be re-elected to Ward 4. I personally feel that he was a target of the politics that some council people like to play and Mr. Capretta was their scapegoat. They wasted city money for an issue where he was working to correct a wrong for a constituent. I have known Mr. Capretta since 2003 and even when he was the councilman. Thanks to Mr. Capretta, Brunswick has a noise ordinance that cites people with loud radios and he made Brunswick safer by passing the Sexual Predator Ordinances.

He is the only councilman that I knew walked his ward and listened to his constituents. In 2007 he voted against the proposed income tax increase and he also voted against the $380,000 fiber optic network that the county commissioners and Port Authority forced Brunswick to be a part of.

Once again, I urge people to re-elect both men as they deserve to be there for another four years fighting for Brunswick.

Capretta has a proven record for assisting his residents

To the Editor:

I served with Councilman Capretta for 3 years while on Brunswick City Council. I witnessed how Anthony Capretta cares and advocates for his Ward 4 residents. First, he works closely with the Police Chief and requests police assistance with radar detection in neighborhoods where there is a high volume of speeding complaints. Second, Capretta was a big help for one of his residents when a city snow plow accidently smashed and buried the resident’s cable box on the tree lawn.

The resident had no cable or Internet connection, and the cable company refused to come out and install a new cable box, because it was buried under 4 feet of snow. When Capretta found out that nobody would help his resident, he took it upon himself and drove over to the resident’s house. The snow was deep and heavy, so he discussed the emergency with a council colleague.

The colleague offered to stop by and give extra help. Together, and 45 minutes later they dug out the cable box and made access for the cable company to come out and install a new cable box on the tree lawn. Capretta has a proven record for assisting his residents.
